LOWER ANTELOPE CANYON

Antelope Canyon (Arizona) is a slot canyon, so narrow that little direct sunlight penetrates to the bottom. Instead, light is reflected from the canyon walls into its depths, taking on unusual hues and properties as it does so. To make this image I pointed my camera upwards to capture the swirling form of the sandstone canyon, with just a hint of yellow light above. Because the range of brightness within the canyon exceeds the capacity of the camera's sensor, the image is made from three different exposures processed with High Dynamic Range software.
