BOULDERS ON WELCOMBE BEACH
The parallel rock ridges of Welcombe Beach are the result of the Variscan Orogony, a mountain-building episode that folded the rocks some 300 million years ago. I liked the bold foreground provided by these two boulders revealed by the ebbing tide. A 30-second shutter speed smoothed out flowing water around them and overcast conditions were well-suited to monochrome conversion.
