TORTOISE SHIELDBUGS

Tortoise shieldbugs (Eurygaster testudinaria) on a flowering grass in a clearing in Green Lane Wood, Wiltshire. The clearing is maintained by National Grid to prevent high-voltage pylons becoming overgrown and it is excellent for invertebrates. With patterns like inlaid coloured wood used to create marquetry, these shieldbugs are rather charming!
