COMMON BLUE DAMSELFLY EATING MOTH

This common blue damselfly was one of many I found soon after sunrise as I waded through the edge of a flooded gravel pit in the Cotswold Water Park. Whereas the others flitted away at my approach, this one stayed so I set my camera up, tripod legs in the water, and composed, taking care that the whole insect was within the plane of focus. Only when I enlarged the image could I clearly see that the damselfly was devouring a tiny moth.
