Seilebost Beach
The Outer Hebrides are famed for their white-sand beaches Seilebost Beach on the Isle of Harris has the added benefit of a superb view of the hills of Taransay in the background. This image is a happy combination of blue sky, turquoise water, mid tide and breaking cloud complementing the form of the sand spit. A shutter speed of 20 seconds smoothed the sea whilst an identically composed exposure of 1/100 second avoided motion in the clouds. What the tourist literature doesn’t spell out is that you need to be prepared for six days of wind and rain to get one day like this!
