Castlerigg Stone Circle in Snow
Raised 5,000 years ago, Castlerigg in Cumbria is among the earliest and most dramatically sited of all British stone circles, with panoramic views and the mountains of Helvellyn and High Seat as a backdrop. At first light, the road to reach it was treacherous so I hiked from Keswick to be rewarded by pristine, untrodden snow. I went close in with a 24mm lens to make individual stones prominent in the composition and create a sense of three dimensions to the image.
