ELEPHANT SEAL EMBRACE
One of the most easily photographed breeding colonies of southern elephant seals is on Sealion Island in the south of the Falklands archipelago. This species has the most extreme sexual dimorphism of any mammal, with males up to six times heavier than females. I was amused by the wicked grin of this male as he embraced a female with his flipper. I was able to get close enough to shoot with a 90mm lens, stopped down to F/16 in order to get both animals within the plane of focus.
