BLUE-TAILED BEE-EATER

After each hunting sally, bee-eaters usually return to the same perch. I made this image in Sri Lanka's Wilpattu National Park, using a jeep as my hide. Having pre-set focus and exposure, I trained my telephoto lens on the branch and my driver told me when the bird was approaching, enabling a rapid burst of shots to capture the moment of landing.
