Sunflowers under Stormy Sky

Sunflowers are a joy of the summer landscape but summer skies can be insipid. To get an image with a dramatically-lit foreground offset by dark clouds, I drove for half an hour through torrential rain. The weather forecast proved correct and I arrived at the field at the same time as the edge of the frontal weather system. A tall tree provided a focal point beyond the sunflowers.
