ROCKFORD COMMON AT DAWN
Purple landscapes are rare and flowering heather is a highlight of late summer. The New Forest has the largest areas of lowland heathland in England, amongst which Rockford Common stands out as a photographic location. The hill has a fine aspect looking east over Appleslade Bottom and Inclosure, where early morning mist sometimes forms. A few trees and gorse bushes dot the hillside, providing mid-ground focal points.
