OVER OWLER TOR

Over Owler Tor on Hathersage Moor is one of the Peak District's more dramatic and easily accessible features. This was my first visit and I arrived as dawn approached, so did not have long to decide on a composition. Although a fairly straightforward pile of rocks, I feel they are lifted above the ordinary by the way the usually grey millstone grit reflects the pink tones of the dawn sky. The colour is also picked up by the still-flowering heather at their base.
