QUIVER TREES
Quiver trees are giant aloes, icons of southern Namibia. I wanted to show their beautiful bark in close up and also their distinctive shape, so I searched for a location where nearby branches framed a more distant quiver tree. Even at F/40, it was not possible to get both trees in focus in a single shot. I therefore opted for two exposures at F/22, one focused on each tree, which I blended using focus stacking software. The sun had risen just a few minutes before I captured the image, bringing out lovely tones in the bark.
