NAMIB DUNE

The dunes near Sossusvlei are the world's largest, their scale indicated by trees at their toe. Prevailing westerly winds have created strong shapes in these mountains of sand, with well-defined, sinuous dune spines. As the sun rises, it fully illuminates the eastern flank of the dune whilst leaving the western side in deep shadow. To add interest in the sky, I waited for a fluffy cloud to drift right above the dune.
