SUNSET, TREBARWITH STRAND
Trebarwith Strand in North Cornwall features a quirky tongue of rock which is oriented a little north of west. The setting sun aligns with the rock ridge in mid-April and early September. The rock ridge looks best when surrounded by water within one hour of high tide. When the tide starts to fall, it leaves the rocks wet and reflective. There are only two days per year when the ideal tidal condition coincides with the ideal sunset position. The photograph was made on one of them; 12 April 2021 at 8.04pm, as the sun set one hour after high tide.
