SUNSET, PORLOCK MARSH

Just after sunset in August, a spring high tide has started to recede leaving a high water mark around the trunk of this dead tree. It was one of many killed by salt water when the shingle beach breached during a storm in 1996. What was previously an orchard is now a salt marsh, flooding on the biggest tides of the year.
