ST MICHAEL’S MOUNT

To capture the sense of it being a tidal island, I wanted to photograph St Michael's Mount as the tide just began to cover the causeway. Taken early on a midsummer morning, the sun had risen shortly beforehand over my left shoulder, casting golden light on the stonework. It was a bonus that the sea was calm enough to reflect the abbey. A neutral density filter allowed me to increase my shutter speed to 4 seconds, further enhancing the reflection.
