PINTAIL

Pintail are jaunty dabbling ducks with intricate, smart patterns that are instantly pleasing. I photographed this one at Slimbridge Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust reserve on a bight January day. Although taken in the middle of the day, low winter sun shows its plumage to good effect.
