RED GROUSE
In the Scottish Highlands, red grouse are understandably wary of people. I photographed this one at Glenshee using a car as a mobile hide. Snow provides a clean, uncluttered background which emphasises the bird's upland habitat. However, a dark bird against a light background is tricky to expose correctly, especially in overcast lighting. Post-processing in Lightroom enabled me to extract all the gorgeous detail in the feathers of the grouse.
