MARBLED WHITE ON RESTHARROW

I find marbled whites amongst the most pleasing butterflies to photograph, partly because their undersides are as beautifully patterned as their uppersides. As the sun dipped towards the horizon this one settled down for the night on restharrow, adding some vibrant colour to the composition. I waited until it was completely still before gently sliding my tripod into position and waited for the last minutes of golden light before making his image.
