OLD FAITHFUL BY MOONLIGHT

I visited Yellowstone National Park over February full moon and decided to make an image of Old Faithful geyser erupting by moonlight. There was snow lying and temperatures were significantly below minus 20 Centigrade. I estimated the time of eruption and an exposure that would register the superheated water plume and brighter stars. From a sequence of 30 second exposures I selected this one because steam from the geyser forms a pleasing shape as it wisps into the cold night sky.
