MILKY WAY RISING, KYNANCE COVE

Facing south, this cove has an ideal aspect for framing the core of the Milky Way as it rises in the early hours of a moonless night in April. The only light pollution is from Lizard lighthouse, screened from view beyond the left-hand headland. The foreground is so dark that it required a separate 8-minute exposure to reveal detail.

Sky: 20 light frames and 15 dark frames each at F/2, 20 seconds, ISO 6400. Foreground: F/2, 8 minutes, ISO 1600
Accepted: Midland 2022
