MILKY WAY OVER PORTLAND BOAT CRANE
Portland Bill boat crane echoes the angle of the Milky Way in this picture taken just after midnight on the first night of the summer to experience true astronomical darkness. To include enough of the Milky Way, I made a stitched panorama of three frames taken with my 14mm wide angle lens. No torches were needed; a little stray light from Portland Bill lighthouse was sufficient to illuminate the foreground.
