HOAR FROST

Mammoth Hot Springs, in the north of Yellowstone National Park, comprise extensive terraces of travertine deposited by water as it escapes from underground. I framed one of the terraces with the branches of two hoar frosted trees. The form and colour of travertine is complemented by the ice entombing every twig.
