PARSON’S CHAMELEON
Parson's chameleon is the world's largest chameleon, growing to a length of 68cm. It is one of over 100 species found on the island of Madagascar, where it inhabits the eastern rainforests. Light levels in the rainforests are low so I used a powerful flash to illuminate this reptile, showing the bright pigments in its skin and putting a catchlight in its eye. Chameleons are slow-moving and the flash has frozen its movement as it takes a carefully-placed step along a branch.
