LAKE MALAWI

Towards the end of the dry season, the air of Malawi becomes laden with dust. In late afternoon this attenuates the sun and dramatically reduces contrast compared to the harsh light more typical of the tropics. I made this image at Otter Point, composing for the rocks, silhouetted tree and path of golden light on the water. The arrival of a dugout canoe completed the scene.
