OLD MAN OF CONISTON

I arrived at Kelly Hall Tarn in Cumbria before sunrise in early January to find perfectly still water reflecting the distinctive profile of Coniston's Old Man, along with nearby trees. A handily-placed peninsula and rock provided some foreground. Sunrise was behind me but it was one of those sublime mornings when thin layers of cloud transmitted colour right across the sky.
