Pergolas in garden on misty morning

Creating a Downland Garden

Garden design is a blend of art with nature. Tracing the development of my Wiltshire garden from a bare field to acceptance in the National Garden Scheme, I discuss the practical and aesthetic principles that give structure and unity to formal lawns and borders, wildflower meadows and ponds, trees, fruit and vegetables.

Each talk comprises approximately 130 images and lasts approximately one hour. I bring my own high definition digital projector.
The fee per talk is £100 plus travel charged from Avebury at 45p/mile. All my presentations are also available by video link using Zoom, at the same fee with no travel cost.

What People Are Saying

"Thank you for coming to give Hilperton Gardening Club such an interesting talk last week. It was indeed a labour of love to create such a lovely garden and I don’t think many of us realised how much thought and work goes into such a big project! Many thanks for your time! Hopefully we will get you to come and give us another of your talks."

- Mary Anderson, Secretary, Hilperton Gardening Club

"Thank you so much for your talk to members earlier this month. We were intrigued to learn how you planned and created your garden from scratch, illustrated by your wonderful photography which enabled us to visualise what you achieved. I look forward to your return to Alderbury in the future with another of your talks."

- David Marshall, Alderbury and District Gardening Association
