PUFFIN IN FLIGHT

Some 37,000 pairs of puffins nest on the Farne Islands, making them the best place in England to photograph this sea bird. Access to the islands is only possible in the middle part of the day but on this morning of this image, low cloud was diffusing the sun, avoiding excessive contrast. Puffins fly fast so it takes practice to track them successfully in the viewfinder with autofocus.
