SPARROWHAWK WITH PREY

Sparrowhawks are nervous bird. Obtaining this photograph required two days in a woodland hide with my 400mm lens trained on a baited perch. The sparrowhawk took a few minutes to extract its prey from cable ties, paused for a moment and then spread its wings to fly. That was when I pressed the shutter.
