KINGFISHER SURFACING

Having photographed kingfishers perched on sticks, I wanted to try something more dynamic. This image was made from a hide on a tidal river bank adjacent to a specially constructed tank at eye level. I used minnows as bait and prefocused where I expected the kingfisher to dive. As soon as the kingfisher left its perch I fired a rapid burst of shots. Within two seconds the kingfisher was back on its perch and whilst most of my frames were empty, this one came good.
