CHAFFINCH

Finches often hover before arriving at a feeder. I pre-focused on the feeder then recomposed so it was out of shot. When a chaffinch arrived in frame I was able to get autofocus locked on quickly, having pre-set a sufficiently fast shutter speed to freeze its movement. It took many attempts over several hours to get a shot I was happy with; an innovative view of one of our commonest birds.
