OVIPOSITING ODONATA

Emperor dragonflies are Britain’s largest flying insects. This female is laying eggs in a pond, while bring used as a handy perching place for a pair of azure damselflies to lay their eggs. The picture shows the range of size in our Odonata - and the risk taken by the damselflies, as the dragonfly could readily make a meal of them.
