BANDED DEMOISELLES

Clear skies and still air lead to heavy dew, even in July. I searched a local river bank before sunrise to find these male and female banded demoiselles, too cold to fly away until the sun warms them. I was hoping for golden light but clouds intervened, so I settled for my macro twin-head flash at minus 1 stop exposure to add some sparkle to their metallic colours.
