High Tide Roost

The Super Full Moon in the early hours of Thursday morning created the biggest tides of the year today. At Snettisham in Norfolk, thousands of birds were forced off the mudflats by the incoming tide soon after sunrise this morning, creating one of Britain's greatest wildlife spectacles. I photographed this oystercatcher surrounded by knot at their hide tide roost, after waiting almost two hours for the oystercatcher to wake up.
