AURORA, KJERK FJORD
I found this location on the eastern shore of Kjerk Fjord on Norway's Moskenesoya Island in the afternoon and returned after dark. With the full moon behind me, I waited four hours wrapped up against the cold for clouds to part and the aurora to appear. By the time the display got underway, the fjord was starting to ice over, giving interesting texture to the foreground. A shutter speed of just 1 second has recorded sharp edges to the fast-moving aurora.
